  • Biography:

After teaching high school for many years, I enrolled in the PhD program in Comparative Literature in 2001, where I concentrated in German and Postcolonial Studies, receiving my doctorate in 2009. My dissertation topic was German national identity and contemporary German film, with a focus on the work of  Turkish-German, East German and West German directors post-unification.

I have been teaching in the Comparative Literature program since 2006, and have also taught courses in the Cinema Studies program.  My current academic interests include the intersections between myth and film, a topic I explore in my Introduction to Mythology classes. In recent years I have been teaching Short Fiction, which appeals to my lifelong love of literature. In addition to teaching, I also enjoy traveling, biking, bird watching and gardening.
